Sonny Martini’s Seafood Depot

Our Journey started in November 1984

My wife and I had been talking for several years about opening up a small Gumbo & seafood po-boy place on the Island and using her grandmothers handwritten personal recipes that she taught my wife how to cook when my wife was 12/13 years old. In 1984 she showed me her grandmothers written recipes in her grandmothers handwriting on notebook paper, I felt we could have a 'Winner'

So, when I saw for over 2 weeks Mr. D's donut shop at 2226-61st.  was closed, I contacted the landlord and asked her if that spot would be available for rent and she told it was.

We signed a 1-year lease and in November 1984 we opened

 The Seafood Depot…..

The restaurant had an open kitchen, a boat bar that held 20 patrons and had 12 tables that held a total of 40 patrons.

We operated our restaurant from November 12, 1984 to June 02, 2000 until we were ‘evicted’ from the premises. Our customers were told that I had ‘sold out’ and left the premises without thanking our customers. Anyone who know me and my wife ‘knows’ that we would never leave our customers like that.

The first thing we would like to say is ‘Thank You’ to all of Our Loyal customers we enjoyed for 15 & 1/2 years in that little seafood restaurant. Your Loyalty— put food on Our Table, Help Educate Our 3 children and gave us a wonderful life serving YOU!

Now the time has come for us to put our talents to help anyone who has a Dream of operating there own seafood establishment like the one we had. If you have an interest, please contact us so we can discuss the opportunity.

Sincerely,

E. Sonny Martini
